Test Animation. April 2008

This is my first attempt at animating using a white board.
I also added a test animation that combines Oragami and Starburts candy.

The next day I wanted to try it out again and this is what i came up with.

Roger. "Jack Is Back." January 2008

I got to work on this awesome project over at Roger.
Its for Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards 2008.
It was a lot of fun seeing Jack Black being combined with mixed media animation.

(A much better quality video can be seen at www.Roger.tv )

Some of the elements that I animated were the King Kong sign,
the signs that the crowds are holding, stars, diamonds, and some slime.
I also cut out a lot of photo elements that were composited.

I had to keep a copy this. It was on motionographer.

Roger. "Darfur." January 2008

This PSA stars Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers,
raising awareness of the on going struggle in Darfur.
At Roger I helped out by animating the endtag.

(Go to, www.AidStillRequired.org to view the complete PSA)

An interesting thing about working on this project was when I got an email about Aid Still Required from Hunter Payne.
I met Hunter in Spring 2007 when he came to speak to my English class,
Social Change Through Media, at Otis College of Art and Design.
The next day I was talking to Sarah the producer at Roger
and I told her about this email I got from Hunter Payne.
She told me Hunter Payne was actually the producer of the PSA I was working on. Awesome!!

Roger. "The Assistants." January 2008

This was a really fun project to work on at Roger.
Its for a new show, The Assistants on The N Channel.

Roger "The Assistants" from ACOSTA_INK on Vimeo.

I used a hand drawn, 2d animation technique in After Effects
to animate the staple removers, birds, clouds, lightning bolts, stars, and flames.
I also tried adding some stop-motion animation.
You could still see some frames of the animation in the beginning
when the piece of paper opens up from the middle and reveal the characters.

Short Film. "CUSUSA." February 2008

I worked with writer director Efrain A. Melendez to pre-visualize his short film "CUSUSA."
It was so great seeing the storyboards come to life.
Here are some of the storyboard that I sketched while I sat down with him.
